Sunset Celebration is a daily affair at the arts festival at Mallory Square Dock in Key West, Florida. The participants in this Key West attraction are the arts and crafts exhibitors, street performers, food carts, psychics and of course the thousands of tourists from around the World who visit Key West. Each night around two hours before sunset masses of people, both locals and tourists alike, flock to the water's edge to experience a multicultural happening and to watch the sun sink into the Gulf of Mexico. What a sight it is, really amazing.
We got a chance to witness the beautiful sunset at Key West while we were there to celebrate 1st anniversary in Nov 2011. We drove from Miami, bypassing all the small keys (islands), the largest of them being Key West. It is a 3-4 hrs drive from Miami and let me tell you that you will enjoy the calm sight of white sands and the blue ocean.
We reached Key West right in time for the sunset and enjoyed the entertainment on the Mallory square. The fire drills, games, shows, tarot reading, food carts etc all add up to the fun. It has some good bars, night clubs and restaurants. We had dinner at Amigos, a really good Mexican place on the Duvel street. You can try it if you are a Mexican food lover, like me. Duvel street is the lifeline of Key West, all the fun happens there. You will definitely end up being at Duvel street if you are in Key West, life never seems to stop there.
Key West is good for water sports. "Furys" is the company through which you can book your water sport activities ranging from snorkeling to para-sailing or jet-skiing.
This was all about my short trip to Key West. The next day we headed back to Miami. Key West is a nice little place you can go to whenever you are visiting that part of Florida. After all, nothing can beat Florida weather :)
