Grand Tetons National Park

The peaks of Teton Range are grand and imposing as they stand nearly 7,000 feet above the valley. Unencumbered by green landscape, they rise through steep coniferous forest into alpine meadows strewn with wildflowers, blue and white glaciers and naked granite peaks.

I visited Tetons in summers and it was beautiful up there. We stayed at Jackson Hole and drove along the green-painted valley. One way road, lush green landscape, shimmering Tetons, wild flowers along the way. That is the road to the Grand Tetons National park. Doesn't it sound amazing?

After entering the park, we took a boat around lake Jenny, one of the larger lakes in Tetons. We did a 3 mile  hike to the Inspiration Point, where we could get a stupendous view of the beautiful lake Jenny. I could see the ripples in water from top of the hill. It was so peaceful up there. The hike is a strenuous one, but the reward is the amazing views from the top.

A string of jewel-like lakes fed by mountain streams are set tightly against the steep foot of the mountains. Beyond them, extends the broad valley called Jackson Hole, covered with lush green landscape providing an excellent habitat for deer, elk, and other animals. The Snake River, having begun its journey in southern Yellowstone National Park near the Teton Wilderness, winds leisurely past the Tetons on its way to Idaho.

Beautiful drive to the Tetons

The grand and imposing Tetons

The park is 485 square miles encompasses both the Teton Range and much of Jackson Hole. The Tetons are popular with hikers, back country trails climb high into the mountains. Easy trails in the valley lead around lakes and wetlands where visitors see moose, elk, deer and all kinds of birds.

Tetons are a beauty. Plan to visit this park whenever you are in Utah or the neighboring area.
