A toast to Spring: Cherry Blossom

Ohh yes!!! Spring is here. Well, that's relief from the myriad of snow-storms, hurricane and the thunderstorms NY had this year.

I love this season of the year the most. Spring is the season of new beginnings. Fresh buds bloom, trees begin to get leaves and the earth seems to come to life again.

Many of the cherry blossom trees begin bursting with pink around the Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. They have been there for a century. Well, that's some inspiring longevity! What started as a simple gift of 3,000 trees from the city of Tokyo has blossomed into a five-week extravaganza that's become something of a national celebration of spring.

Every year, I wished to go for cherry blossom in the capital, but somehow I haven't been able to time it well. Well, some day. New York also has a Japanese Cherry Blossom festival "Sakura Matsuri". So, I thought to wander through the crowds to get a better look at these blossoming glories.

"Sakura ga utsukushiidesu"- Cherry Blossom is beautiful!
